Vineyard Worship is a sub-label under the conglomerate church organization Association of Vineyard Churches, which has similar reach as Hillsong, Bethel, and Elevation Worship.  It is a culmination of churches under the Vineyard banner.  While I could not find a reliable source that contains their massive album list, I managed to discover their full litany of Vineyard songs.

Also, check out my review of Arms of Love.

1. What message does the song communicate?

Vineyard Worship desires that God aligns their wants with His; that He molds them into the kind of person that they’ve always wanted to be.

Score: 10/10

2. How much of the lyrics line up with Scripture?

In short, yes.

This song does not contain a Verse/Chorus/Bridge structure.  Therefore, I assigned stanzas for each paragraph.

[Stanza 1]

Lines 1 and 2: Vineyard Worship lays their desires at God’s feet so that theirs would align with His (Psalm 51:10, Jeremiah 24:7, Ezekiel 11:19, Ezekiel 36:26, Romans 2:29, Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 5:17, and 2 Corinthians 7:10).

Lines 3 and 4: Repeats/essentially repeats lines 1 and 2.

[Stanza 2]

Lines 1-4: Though there are a few passages of Scripture that speak of the potter and clay, Vineyard Worship is most likely quoting from Isaiah 64:8 as their prayer.

Score: 10/10

Side Note: The song’s order is Stanzas 1, 1, 2, 1, 2, then 1.

3. How would an outsider interpret the song?

The word “God” makes it clear to unbelievers that this song is religious.  The potter/clay analogy is commonly used in Christian circles, although it comes from the Old Testament.  Still, those who aren’t Christians will think that God molds Christians into the people He wants them to be, with their permission.

Score: 10/10

4. What does this song glorify?

It glorifies God as the One to whom Vineyard Worship surrenders, allowing Him to shape them as He pleases.

Score: 10/10

Closing Comments

Vineyard Worship’s Change My Heart Oh God is short but sweet.  It reminds us to remain humble, yielding our lives so that God can make us become better people and bring Him glory.  Unbelievers should have no problem interpreting this song,

For those looking for a simple song in corporate worship, give this one a go.

Score: 10/10
